Claremont, CA - Elegant Home Staging for a Fully Remodeled Classic Home

When staging an older home that has been beautifully remodeled, it is important not to remove all the character that made the property special in the first place. The staging should help buyers appreciate the updates while still feeling the warmth, history, and charm of the original home.

This property was located near Downtown Claremont in a beautiful, well-maintained neighborhood. The house had been very well cared for and fully remodeled with fantastic features. Although many of the finishes were new, the home still had a classic personality that we wanted to respect.

Our goal was to create an elegant and elevated presentation with a relaxed, Southern-inspired feeling. We wanted the rooms to feel soft, welcoming, and timeless rather than overly modern or designed around a passing trend.

Throughout the home, we selected furniture in light, neutral colors. Soft linen tones helped brighten the rooms and created a calm foundation that allowed the home’s architectural features to remain visible. The neutral furniture also made the property feel cohesive as buyers walked from one room to another.

In the dining area, we used fully upholstered skirted chairs. The softness of the fabric and the graceful shape of the chairs brought a more traditional, collected feeling to the room. They complemented the age and charm of the home while still feeling fresh and appropriate for the remodeled interior.

Because the main furniture remained simple and neutral, we had more freedom to introduce personality through the secondary elements. We selected distinctive accent tables, textured lamps, large-scale artwork, greenery, and accessories with interesting shapes and finishes.

The artwork was especially important. Larger pieces gave the rooms a stronger presence and helped balance the scale of the walls. Instead of filling the home with many small decorative pieces, we used fewer items with greater visual impact. This made the styling feel intentional and elevated without becoming busy.

We also looked for accessories that had character. Textured pottery, sculptural objects, books, greenery, and carefully layered decorative pieces helped the home feel warm and collected. These elements brought depth into the neutral rooms and prevented the overall design from feeling too plain.

Color was introduced thoughtfully through lamps, accent tables, artwork, and accessories rather than through the largest furniture pieces. This gave the rooms personality while allowing the furniture to remain versatile, light, and timeless. It also meant that no single color overwhelmed the home or distracted buyers from the property itself.

This type of staging requires balance. If everything is neutral, an older home can lose its warmth and start to feel generic. If every furniture piece is bold or highly detailed, the design can compete with the architecture. For this Claremont property, the softer furniture created the foundation, while the art, lighting, textures, and accessories told the story.

The final result felt elegant, inviting, and connected to the home’s original charm. It looked beautifully updated, but it did not feel stripped of personality. The owner was extremely pleased with the transformation, and the home sold very quickly after going on the market.
